I hadn't visited the dentist in over 10years as, a bad experience as a teenager has set me up for a crippling dental phobia. My partner convinced me to attend, and I saw his dentist. He put me at ease so much, and managed to do a small amount of work, then referred me to the dental phobia clinic for sedation to finish the work. Between this dentist, and the amazing dentist at the clinic we worked to make me more comfortable. It took over a year, but I was finally at a stage where I could have treatment. Unfortunately this dentist left Liverpool road, and I have a new female dentist. She has so far lacked any compassion with my nerves and anxiety, and not put me at ease at all. I had a small filling needed doing, and it took so much effort on my part to allow her to do so, but I did. On finishing I was informed it might still need a root canal or extraction, but we shall wait and see. I was upset, as if she thought it needed that in the first place, why didn't she just do it?! She knew how anxious I was and that the small bit of work was insanely difficult, and she was happy to put me through more?
Lo and behold, a month on I had a huge abscess and needed more work. Work I've been unable to get done because she has made me so anxious it's set me right back to the start. I've since had two abscesses, both which I've been unable to attend the surgery for as I've had a panic attacks just on ringing, it's that bad I can't even come to get antibiotics because I'm terrified.
So yea, thanks for setting me back and 'helping' |

I recently returned home from my first visit to a dentist in over twenty years following a very bad experience elsewhere, you could say that I am terrified of going but had a painful tooth. I called to register as a new patient and was swiftly and efficiently dealt with. Later that week the pain got considerably worse and called again. A very polite and caring receptionist got me an appointment two days later.
I was attended by two members of staff, the tooth decay was worse than expected and was told either extraction or root canal, I panicked! The dentist decided the best option was to save the tooth and so to work they went. I was shaking with fear but they both comforted me considerably and showed the greatest standard of professionalism and care. Before I knew it the treatment was finished.
I cannot express my gratitude to them both, not only did they save my tooth and relieve my pain but they restored my faith in dentists and nurses. I really can't find sufficient words other than stellar service and care from all at Liverpool Road surgery.
From receptionist to the dental team you are fantastic, I now look forward to returning to complete the treatment and further cosmetic work.
You are wonderful people. |
