In Short: Beware if you are an NHS patient, they are prone to opportunistically provide private, chargeable treatment without clarifying the nature of the treatment or that it will incur a charge. Be very careful not to sign both NHS and private boxes on an FP17DC form if you attend this practice to avoid falling afoul of this. Some detail: Unfortunately a very poor service. As an NHS patient - they provided me with an FP17DC (Treatment Plan), a form which is meant to clarify treatment and costs at a checkup appointment. I signed the agreement at a time where there was no private treatment on it. In hindsight, I should not have added the second signature at all because it essentially proved to be similar to signing a blank cheque. Dr Neha added a chargeable hygiene treatment without clarifying that it would be chargeable, giving me the impression that the treatment was an NHS clinically indicated scale and polish. The chargeable treatment was very similar to the standard one in times of duration and outcome but cost as much as a visit to a hygienist at £80. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and a chance to resolve this, having spoken to the Practice Manager also with back and forth correspondence spanning over 6 months to no avail. They simply insist that because they have an (eventually) completed and (previously) signed form that I must have agreed to the charge and Dr Neha claims that I verbally agreed to it during my checkup, but I did not. I will now be pursuing this matter through formal means. |
