So I had an appointment with Carnegie. I was asked to come Thursday but I couldn’t due to work commitments. The receptionist lady then said on the phone can you come the following Thursday? So I said yes that would be perfect as I’m off work. So I went to my appointment the following Thursday and had prepared myself mentally the whole week as I am not the best when it comes to the dentist and suffer with anxiety already. When I got to the dentist it was closing, I was baffled as to why they were closing as I had an appointment and the receptionist lady on the door said you definitely won’t have an appointment today, don’t worry though ring in the morning. So I went all the way to the dentist on a Thursday cause I was told Thursday was my appointment. I rang the next morning in a panic also in pain due to toothache, also feeling very anxious and was told I can never rejoin as an NHS patient again because my appointment was Tuesday and not Thursday! However I was told Thursday and even rebooked a different Thursday so this was clarified several times over the phone in the first instance! I’ve literally missed one appointment which wasn’t my fault as I was told Thursday originally. This was the receptionists fault for the mix up and I wasn’t even given a chance to rebook or rejoin the waiting list knowing I need urgent dentist treatment and unable to afford private care he sent why I joined and waited a month to get treatment via the NHS. I don’t think I’d waste my time missing an appointment on a Tuesday to then go on a Thursday after waiting all this time, why would anyone go to their appointment on a different day when they are in pain and have waited to join this dentist for over a month? Then to be abruptly told I can never rejoin the NHS at Carnegie again and if I do want to join I can join privately. Fair enough if I had missed this appointment on purpose or missed several appointments, but to be struck off for a genuine mistake made by yourselves is really unfair. |

I visit the practice 4 times a year as part of my hygiene plan. I first came to the clinic as a nervous wreck having not been to the dentist for a significant number of years. Everyone from reception, nurses, hygienists to the dentist herself was very understanding and supportive from the start . I was encouraged to take out the hygiene plan as regular visits would help to overcome my phobia. This has proved the case and in March was able to come for a filling with very little stress and anxiety. Whilst I wouldn't go as far as to say I enjoy coming it is certainly not the dreaded event it used to be. |
