I have been a patient at this dentist for my entire life (I am 22 years old) and this September I missed my first appointment due to moving between my university and home addresses. I have since been struck off NHS treatment by the practice and the reason given was that I have not been in 2 years. How can I not go in 2 years when I cannot even get myself in for a checkup within that time frame? The reason given also contradicts the letter that I was sent which stated that NHS treatment would only be struck off if I constantly missed appointments. I have only missed the one. In addition to this, my family use the same practice and have been subjected to their appointments constantly being cancelled last minute 'due to unforeseen circumstances' for the last year. It takes three months or more for a checkup! This practice has deteriorated significantly in the last year. I booked an appointment at my local dentist at university and was seen within a week! The difference between that practice and this practice is night and day. It is clearly not just a treatment of NHS customers but the decline in the quality of the practice. Avoid!

I had been with this dentist for 24 years in its various incarnations. I called them on Thursday 21st February 9.06am, asking for an emergency slot. Person who answered phone said they would call back in an hour or so to advise if my dentist would be able to see me. several hours later and in agony, I went in to Halifax and called in to see what was happening about an emergency appointment. Receptionist told me because I hadn't been in over 2years the dentist would not see me. I received no apology for not receiving a phone call back, the only response I did get was they "were too busy to call me back." 4hours wasted and in considerable pain with a dental abscess, (which can be life threatening if not treated in time in some cases)I called NHS 111 who were pretty useless too, however, eventually I was sent to Huddersfield (yet another saga) for an emergency appointment on Friday 22nd Feb only to receive antibiotics. I could of gone to my own GP for these and saved the NHS 23 pounds plus my expense travel. On my way back through Halifax I called in at My Dentist on Clare Road, to ask if I could re register. Was advised by the receptionist that I could not register with my usual dentist again and because I had not been in nearly three years I could not register with the practice. I asked her if they were still accepting NHS patients and the receptionist said no. I was given a leaflet about a new dental plan they have and advised that this was replacing the NHS charges. I left the practice still in pain and still without a dentist. How do you think I felt when I called in to my local shop yesterday and read the front page of Friday 22nd Feb Halifax Evening Courier which says My dentist are opening a new large unique practice and wait for it .....NHS patients are still being accepted!!! I am in mind to write to the GMC. In the mean time i've had to dose up on codeine and hope the antibiotics i've been given work and the infection dosn't spread elsewhere. Also can you tell me why you are still holding my personal details and records if I am no longer a patient?? My details were confirmed to me by the receptionist!!!!
