Initially I was really happy with this dentist. They let my daughter join as an NHS patient and seemed helpful with appointments etc. However it quickly became apparent that they are very focused on cosmetic procedures, with the dentist telling me not to worry about my daughter swallowing toothpaste and getting the white spots on her teeth as they would just bleach them. I knew at that point that I didn’t want her seeing them long term. The dentist who we saw twice over a year also just talks at you and doesn’t listen. I can see she is getting through the appointment as quickly as possible and she didn’t give me time to calm my daughter down or try and make things happy and safe for her, given it was her first trip to the dentist she was naturally scared. I spent all of three minutes in the room with my daughter screaming and this woman just talking at me as fast as she could. I couldn’t hear most of it because my daughter was so upset. Then I was rushed out and told to come back in 6 months. (For what turned out to be exactly the same thing again.) Anyway we managed to move her into my husband’s NHS dentist and sent Greenside a message via their online system asking them to remove our daughter from the books and to cancel her upcoming appointment. We heard nothing back so this morning I gave them a call to confirm. The receptionist was really rude to me, spoke over me (seems to be a common thing there) and basically hung up on me. The only reason I called to confirm was to make sure they didn’t waste an appointment. As a comparison my husband recently took our daughter to see his dentist and they were brilliant. Calm and kind with her, said the main purpose of this first visit was to get her used to coming without being scared etc and recommended how we could do things in the future to make it better for her. Unfortunately I think it will be a while before she isn’t scared of going thanks to the traumatic start she has had a Greenside. I wouldn’t have written a review day unless it had been for the rude receptionist this morning. I’m glad we won’t be returning!
