These are difficult times for everyone and yet I have always found the doctors, nurses and reception staff easy to talk too. Recently one of the receptionist went above and beyond to help me.

Whilst undergoing my cancer treatment in 2016, I cannot fault the swiftness of response and compassion of my main GP when I needed antibiotics urgently, or advice. I have had a great relationship with my main GP, who has always respected my professional opinion as a nurse even though I know we can be a pain self diagnosing! However, it has always been a challenge getting a pre booked appointment. My mother took a phone call recently, and thought it was for herself, however when I received the text and called to confirm who it was for, it turns out it was for me? I am apparently due a medicines review so as I am on cancer treatment and antidepressants, it concerned me when I had to cancel this appointment and was informed (7 days into July!) that all pre-bookable appointments for July have gone, and it may mean that I don’t get my next prescription drugs issued if I don’t have the review? I totally accept that but I now have to join the throngs if poorly people that phone in the morning for an emergency appointment when I’m not an emergency? It doesn’t make sense to me? I am sadly going to transfer to another local surgery in the vain hope it is more accessible for appointments on the rare occasions I need one.

Thank you for leaving your comments, we are pleased to know that you were satisfied with the care you received from your main GP back in 2016. It is very difficult for us to sort out this particular issue that you have raised without knowing the complete circumstances, to do this we would need to look into your records, if you would like to discuss this further please contact the Surgery and ask to speak to the Team Leader and we will look into this for you in more detail. Generally when we contact patients for medication reviews this would be classed as a routine appointment, unfortunately because of the high demand on the Surgery the pre-bookable appointments do go very quickly especially if you wish to see a specific GP. Unless the GP has stated otherwise we will continue to prescribe your medication until you are seen for your review, again we need to look into this so please contact the Surgery to discuss further. We apologise for any inconvenience you may have been caused.
