The level of GP service at Nook Surgery is extremely poor. Please note, I do not take issue with the Admin/Reception staff at Nook Surgery, who have been extremely helpful. I am due to have a procedure at University College London Hospitals (UCLH). A large and specialist teaching hospital in London. I need some standard pre-procedure tests before the procedure, which is the norm. UCLH asked that the tests be completed by my GP, with the results then e-mailed to UCLH. Which is common sense, for the tests to be completed locally to me. Meaning I wouldn’t have to travel to London for the tests, to then return to Huddersfield, to then have to go back to London for the procedure. I was all booked in for the tests by Nook Surgery. I then suddenly received information from Nook Surgery stating the tests had been cancelled! When I enquired with the GP as to why I received a load of old rubbish in the form of excuses. With the main reason given that Nook Surgery did not have to complete the tests. And with the other reasons being given also falling well short, in my opinion. Such as the GP would have to act if the tests flagged up further issues and it being unclear as to where the test results were to be sent. When I put the above to UCLH I was told that GPs in other geographical areas regularly provide test results. And so I fail to understand what the issue is with Nook Surgery. UCLH comes under the NHS, as does Nook Surgery. Both are NHS organisations. Further, the GP stated there could be issues with the General Medical Council if Nook Surgery complied with the UCLH request. In my opinion, as other GPs in other geographical areas assist UCLH, the Nook Surgery GP was being what could be described as economical with the truth. I now have to travel to London to UCLH (which is costly), to then return to Huddersfield, to then go back to London for the procedure. Exactly what I wanted to avoid. And because the procedure is coming up very soon I was advised by UCLH that the tests may not now be completed in time if I went to my local hospital, Huddersfield Royal Infirmary. Hence the need for me to now attend UCLH for the tests. Nook Surgery could have assisted. After all, I was already booked in for the tests. Instead, the GP was intentionally difficult and uncooperative. Intentionally undertaking what I’d describe as a foot dragging exercise. Nook Surgery could quite easily have liaised with UCLH staff, through secure NHS communication channels, in order for me to have the tests via my GP and for the results to be forwarded to UCLH. Nook Surgery - extremely poor.

It seems that you are not allowed an appointment if you have only had a sore throat for two days! After being questioned by the receptionist about my symptoms and asked if I had taken over the counter medication I was then advised that it may take longer for the medication to work. I was unaware that it takes ibuprofen and paracetamol 2 days to work!! The receptionist spoke to a clinician and 30 seconds later advised me I could not have an appointment as the doctor had decided I didn’t need one! I explained that if the doctor looked any my medical records they would see that I have history of a skin problem caused by a sore throat, this means I have been advised to always have antibiotics because of the risk of the condition flaring again. Last time I had to have months of light therapy because it was so bad. The receptionist advised they had my records open and I asked whether they had managed in the 2 seconds to look at my history from 6 years ago! Again I was told that I could not have an appointment for a sore throat! So I really hope it isn’t an infection and I really hope it does not flare my condition again otherwise it will mean it’s costs the NHS a lot more on consultants appointments and light therapy. All because the receptionist refused to listen to what I had to say.
