The practice is awful. You wait over 90 seconds; listening to a pre voice recorded message advising in a painfully uninterested tone: what not to call for, what they won't help you with and to give staff respect. This is not reciprocated when you speak with staff on the telephone, or face to face. It is very disappointing and upsetting. Once you get past the initial message, you are then put on hold to get through to a non-medically qualified receptionist, who will proceed to want to know the fine details of why you need medical assistance. This can be very personal and evasive and not what a poorly patient is comfortable answering. IF you are lucky enough to get an appointment within an acceptable time scale, you are not treated with dignity. The medical staff have a 'couldn't care less attitude' and they do not allow patients to explain their issues without accusations or judgements. For example; I telephoned for an appointment because my medical issue had deteriorated drastically over a period of twenty-four hours, to be told on a doctor's call back that my notes said I was healed and that there were no staff available to assist. After persisting, I was offered an appointment for the following hour. During the appointment, infection was identified and antibiotics were prescribed. Thank goodness I persisted. The medical staff make you feel extremely vulnerable, scared of whistle blowing when the care received is not satisfactory and generally unsafe when visiting the practice. |

Trying to get an appointment when you really need one is like trying to get blood out of a stone also have to wait a least a month in advance to see the GP of your choice, most of the receptionists are polite and do their best to help. I feel like the doctors don't take my illness seriously but then also use it to explain other ailments I have rather than investigate further, It also feels like they don't believe me most of the time when I tell them my ailments and I'm sick of being fobbed off. Also been waiting for a referral to a clinic at the hospital I phoned the surgery to see if I could change location only to be told that the GP who made the referral had in fact referred me to the wrong department so my faith in the GP's at this surgery is waning so I'm now in the process of changing surgeries. |
