I am writing in relation to my own experience with Macklin St Surgery with whom I have been with for many years.
I have always found the surgery welcoming the staff are always calm polite and courteous with a professional approach.
I have never had any issues in getting an appointment although I have had to wait some minutes but this is expected as I am not the only patient wanting to see a Doctor.
The doctors that I have seen have been wonderful and caring I had to have a minor operation and this was conducted at the surgery within one hour of my arrival how lucky was I as if I had gone to hospital I would have probably been there hours.
I think we have the best NHS in the world they are amazing people when you need them my most recent visit this month {October} i saw the doctor and i cannot criticise the way i was listened to and the support and advice given to me was excellent.
However some times things do go wrong and not according to plan but i am sure we all learn from these but more importantly we should support the good staff we are so lucky to have in this day and age keep up the excellent work you all do. I turned to my doctors and Yes they are Very Busy but Always courteous and Kind and Try to see and help as many patients as possible. I now use a wheelchair and other aides But I am able to Work with support from this Practice and pain management is good and life too Of which this Practice and Staff are a Massive Part of me being able too. so we wait a Longer be Patient the staff and Doctors are Trying in times that many services are Cut. I have been using the practice for 17 years both at sister surgery in Allestree and at Macklin St and am sad to leave this practice as I am moving to Shropshire. The doctors and nurses in this practice really are dedicated to their patients, they genuinely care and go the extra mile. I expect a high standard of care and and as a health care professional I consider myself fortunate to be able to recognise good quality care. I have come to trust in the professionals working at this practice. The receptionists are generally helpful, courteous and try to accomodate clinical need although it has been increasingly frustrating over the last 3 or 4 years to get an appointment as the population and demand for a service has increased. It can be tricky booking ahead with appointments thin on the ground and tiresome waiting in the telephone queue at 8am for a same day appointment but somehow the practice find a way to accomodate. SMS reminder service works well as does online booking service. I would thoroughly recommend this practice. One small suggestion for the practice manager to ease pressure on GP appointments: when topical steroid creams for eczema etc require review after 6 months, could a practice pharmacist see the patient instead of GP? Ditto for other suitable skin conditions, do you have a prescribing pharmacist specialising in skincare? I'd like to thank everyone in the practice for their service to me and my family. Reply from Macklin Street Surgery Tue, 29 Aug 2017 07:58:33 +0100 Thank you for your response on NHS Choices we endeavour to try and offer the best service to our patients despite as you say in your comments the huge increases in demand over the past few years. We have employed a clinical pharmacist who is now doing medication reviews to try and free up more GP appointments to cope with the demand. I will share your comments with the rest of the practice team it is always good to get positive feedback about our services. |
