Our son has DMD (life limiting muscle wasting condition) Cardiomyopathy, Osteoporosis, Type2 Respiratory Failure compounded by severe Anxiety & Panic Attacks. He has been wheelchair bound & mostly paralysed most of his life. His carers has on numerous occasions rang the practice on behalf of him as he struggles to project his speech. It’s evident that everyone at this practice either didn’t listen carefully when we registered there or worse still hasn’t a clue about DMD otherwise his care would be treated more serious & timeous. DMD sufferers appear more healthy than they actually are & can deteriorate rapidly & as experienced by co-sufferers be fatal. As parents we’re very concerned about the lack of his medical care as everyone incl your District Nurse keeps passing the buck instead of providing alternate solutions. All we want is a good quality of life |

Stay well clear of this doctors practice.. you can never get through on there telephone system but they say it's been upgraded .. You can never get an appointment unless it's a medical emergency and god help you if you take one of those and it's not... it says on the NHS website that they are taking on new patients WHY because they can't cope with what they are treating now This practice is a absolute joke to the medical profession and a full investigation needs to carried out |

I have been trying now to get an appointment for three weeks. Still trying. When you speak to the receptionist they are curt and rude and uncaring. Don’t get me wrong, they do offer you an emergency appointment, are my symptoms an emergency, I don’t know, that’s what I want to see the Dr for. They said that they could get me a sit and wait emergency appointment if it was an emergency, I said to the receptionist that I didn’t think that it was an emergency as I am not actually dying but I need to see a GP. The reply was that they were only seeing emergency appointments only and to phone up in the morning at 8am.
They ask you to phone at 8am in the morning for an appointment and at 8am you can image the hundreds of people pressing redial all at the same time just to get to speak to someone in the hope that they may get to see a Dr. This practice is getting ridiculous and the reception staff are really poor.
It is a real shame becuase in the past when I have managed to get an appointment the GP has been awesome.I have been with this family of GPs for years and I just have to go somewhere else now. At least I will be one less patient for the receptionists to have to speak to. Maybe that’s the plan, to drive us all away.
Skegby Family Medical Centre is the worse it has ever been. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else and speak to people that actually want to do the job that they are paid for. |
