Having read through some of the recent reviews, I find it hard to believe that we are talking about the same surgery. Whenever I have called the surgery, the receptionists have been lovely - very helpful, friendly, caring and efficient - in fact, they generally go out of their way to help me. The GPs that I have seen have been fabulous - very interested, helpful, caring and never have I felt that I have been hurried out of the room and not listened to. Mind you, I like things to be done quickly and appreciate that GPs have limited time for appointments; if I allow my appointment to overrun, it means that all other patients to be seen after me that day are seen late. I have had serious health concerns and have never found that my allocated slot in not long enough for a GP to address my concerns. Paston Surgery is excellent. Receptionists are generally rude and dismissive when you speak to them and the GPS I’ve experienced (with the exception of 1) have been so dismissive and make you feel like a burden! They also put inaccurate information on some referrals they made and this was never discussed with me! The specialist they referred me to highlighted these errors and suggested I make a formal complaint which I do not have time or energy to do! Instead, I will be looking to change surgery to one where the doctors actually care about their patients, listen to them and want to do their jobs well (if such a thing exists anymore within a failing NHS system?!). While I appreciate there’s a lot of pressure on GPs and lots of unrealistic targets, I work in a similar environment in that respect and it doesn’t stop me fighting back to make sure the vulnerable young people I’m responsible for get the best support available - I therefore have little respect for medical professionals that don’t do not do the same for their patients. At Paston surgery this is definitely the case as it’s clear they need you out of their room in set time and will hurry you along to make sure that happens while occasionally rolling their eyes when you point out they’ve neglected to listen to what you said. |
