I have been with this practice since I was born & I'm now 41. I have seen it change hands many times in my 41 years. Throughout this time I have always found the care given to be rated from good to excellent, depending on who has been running the practice at that time. I feel since Barclays took over the surgery that they are offering better over all health care experience expected in a GP surgery for 2021. They have brought in much needed technology & as far as I'm aware the room that held all the patients paper records have been automated. Which means at a click of a button any doctor can bring up your notes & see any medical conditions that may be a concern while assessing you during your appointment. A previous review on here said its like Russian roulette to get an appointment at 8am. Can I just highlight that this has been the case for sometime even before Barclays took over the practice. I understand that their is a limited amount of appointments that can be given out in any one day but that's just not subject to Barclays Medical Practice but it occurs across all GP surgeries in the UK. As patient demands out weighs the ratio of Dr's that we have. Also people forget that many appointments have already been pre booked from previous appointments. In addition to this if you feel seriously ill or you feel like you have a medical emergency but it may not meet the criteria for hospital then providing you tell the receptionist its an emergency the receptionists will often tell you to come down to the surgery & you will you see a Dr or a nurse. If all emergency appointments are gone then the Dr call you & if they feel you need to come down to the surgery then they will tell you to do so. Despite calling for an appointments there is flexibility to them for those who have an emergency or who a have a greater need to see a GP. I also found the comment in regards to the nurse practitioner to detrimental just because you can't see a GP. Do you know how long it takes to become a nurse practitioner & the level of medical qualifications they need to undertake? To me it makes sense to see a nurse practitioner especially if your medical issue is not urgent as it frees up the GP's to see other patients. Also speaking from my own experience if the nurse practitioner is unsure about anything medical that you present to them they don't just leave you hanging there. They will go & get a GP to double check you over if they feel its required. I have always been with this practice & love it dearly but I find it runs & operates a lot better since Barclays took over it. I'm always able to get an appointment if i need one & if the GP or the nurse practitioner thinks I need to come back to see them, then I simply go to receptionist I tell them that they person seeing me wishes to see you again & they will book me in for an appointment right their and then depending when the person wishes to see me. In addition to this I find all the staff to be lovely & helpful & recently I had a fantastic experience with one of the GP's who called me. Not to go into my medical history but I had stopped taken my medication for a while, when I called up to get a replacement prescription clearly they noticed I had a gap in my medication. So a GP took the time to find out why I hadn't been taking it, they made sure I was okay, they discussed my issues with me & referred me onto the appropriate support. This is an amazing service because I hadn't called the surgery for an appointment yet the GP took the time out to call me & basically gave me a consultation over the phone. If that's not good medical care then I don't know what is! As for some people complaining about seeing different doctors or different nurse practitioner surly its better to have a fresh set of eyes looking at your medical case? Also if there is a particular doctor or person you prefer to see the surgery will accommodate you. You just might have to wait a little longer to see them. though.
