Don't be fooled by the CQC rating of "good". This was from December 2015 before the company was taken over. The carers are very good, kind people, but the management is atrocious, which is why I guess they can't hang onto decent staff.
Recently they've had staffing issues. Bearing in mind the company's clients are vulnerable, you'd think they'd let clients know they're having problems and contract staff from other agencies to help out. No. What Prestige currently do is visit some of their clients, leaving others to fend for themselves with no notice and no call or explanation from the agency to say no-one's coming so that friends/relatives can fill the gaps on a one-off basis.
I know of one elderly man left completely unattended for over a day. He is disabled and can't manage in his own. My own parents, in their late 80s have been similarly left adrift with no notice or explanation. Another situation is where a lone young male member of staff has been left to deal with the personal needs of a vulnerable female client. Surely in that situation there should be two carers, one female, for everyone's dignity and safety?
Fortunately, social care staff have stepped in where they can, as have I, but this isn't always possible as I work.
Do not trust the care of your vulnerable relatives to this company. They are unreliable in the extreme. The Continuing Healthcare team locally are aware of the issues.
Personally I feel very sorry for clients and staff. They are badly let down. |
