Leighside is a home situated in a residential area in West End, Southampton. They provide personal care and support for a maximum of five young adults with learning disabilities and autistic spectrum disorders.
Leighside is in the pleasant West End area, close to local shops, public transport and a& park, as well as having all the amenities of Southampton city centre within easy reach. Each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom or shower room. There is a spacious& lounge, a second reception room& and a large kitchen/diner. The large private garden& has patio areas and a summer house.
Residents have opportunities for a wide range of individually-tailored educational and leisure activities, and are supported in following carefully planned individual programmes.
We are able to support people and develop their abilities across a wide range of areas, including interpersonal skills, personal care, development of greater independence in daily living, pursuing hobbies and interests, self management of behaviour, conversation and, for some residents, signed communication.
Residents are supported in developing their independence skills within the home environment and in the wider world. This includes self-care, domestic tasks and the use of shops and local facilities.
A wide range of leisure and educational activities& is offered, tailored to the individual interests and aptitudes of each resident. So far these have included gardening, cooking, music, swimming, cinema, horse riding, shopping, theatre, singing and piano lessons, art, computers, walking, golf, keep fit and& drama.
Local colleges provide a good choice of classes for people with and without disabilities, which many of our residents opt to attend successfully with appropriate support.
Some residents also attend supported work placements, with support provided according to their needs. |
