My mum died as a result of an unsuccessful colonoscopy. I am distraught. Mum and I went in and I expected to hold mums hand but was told I had to wait downstairs. I waited ages while huge numbers of people came 8n, like a money making machine. Eventually a member of staff took me up. Mim looked very in pain, uncomfortable. She never recovered. Her and Dad had to go on a cruise just after as it was too late to postpone. Mum spent all the cruise looking for toilet that wasnt out of order. She constantly was in pain but couldn't do a wee or poo. She was red lighted to hospital 4 times, a catheter had to be fitted, started using fecal incontinence pads. Her mobility and sight was ruined. She never drove or did her daily crossword again. She was completely dependent for every aspect of life until she died the Monday before Christmas. I hate that I did not demand to be with my mum. I would have known she was in pain and told the colo rectal surgeon from Leicester General to stop. He didnt make eye contact with mum once. He left a report on bed saying diverticulitis prevented colonoscopy so a scan needed doing, before rectal prolapse repair surgery. Of course she was now told had only a few months to live. Her dormant leukaemia was activated by the colonoscopy. I detest your disservice.
