I recently underwent a routine gynecological procedure. From the moment I stepped in the door to the time I left, I was treated with respect and dignity. I was extremely impressed with the way that I was kept up to date with timings, what would happen next and with the procedure itself.
The nurse who admitted me was the nurse who was in charge of everyone at the hospital. She was wonderful. She put me at complete ease and explained everything clearly to me.
The other staff were also very helpful and treated me like a real human being, an individual, rather than just a patient or a number. The doctor who carried out the procedure also came to see me before the procedure just to reassure me and have a chat about what he was going to do.
After I had the procedure I was looked after very well, and given tea and biscuits and a full explanation of what to expect over the coming 24 hours.
The following day I had a phone call from the hospital, asking me how I was feeling which i thought was fantastic. The lady who called was more than happy to listen to me and answer the questions I had - it was nice to think that somebody had actually taken the time to call me and check that I was doing ok.
I cannot thank the hospital and staff for their kindness and professional approach - I have never experienced this type of care and aftercare in any of the hospitals I have been in.
