I was admitted for a vascular procedure, this was my second time in this amazing hospital. I have to compliment the staff, in helping me in my recovery. They have been very professional. Pre and post procedure has been perfect. Thank you to all involved. Hans |

I had the same experience as the above reviewer. The communication before the op was appalling. I emailed the hospital to ask them to tell me in advance if I would need to come into the hospital during the week before the operation. I heard nothing. Then I got the same 12 hours notice of a requirement to go to the hospital for an appointment that the previous reviewer got. When I said I couldnt make it, the hospital suggested I teleport myself to the appt (it was a joke but I didnt really appreciate the humour). At the same time I was told that Id also be telephoned between 9am and 5pm in 2 days time. Any normal person with a normal job cant just drop everything at a moments notice to attend a last-minute hospital appointment or to make themselves available for a phone call. I did not understand why the pre-assessment team couldnt give me information well in advance that I would need to make myself available during the week before the op, rather than dropping it on me last minute, especially since I had asked the question. I found it very stressful not knowing what was going on, and not being able to get information as to what would be happening during the week before the op. At least the hospital staff were exceptional when I actually went in for the op (as I hope they were for the previous reviewer). But the arrogant, service-by-robot attitude of the pre-assessment process has put me right off using this hospital again. |

No matter how many e-mails or telephone messages I make to the Pre-Assessment team I never receive a reply. Im due an operation on the 17th Jan and no-one contacted me about the requirements before the operation. Finally yesterday after ringing multiple numbers I eventually managed to speak to someone who looked up my case and asked me to come in next day !! I explained to the lady I live 3 hrs away and could not make this, we finally agreed to re-arrange till Monday this coming week. Cant believe Im having to take the risk of coming (Covid) to London for blood and urine tests that last less than 1 hr especially as Im quarantining in prep for the operation. As member of BUPA I asked if there was some alternative venue local to Gloucester where I live that can carry out these required checks, only to be told it gas to be a HCA facility. Taking into account the current situation with Covid Im very surprised this level of flexibility cannot be achieved Again I have left many messages today as Im aware that HCA has a facility in Birmingham 1 hr away which would be my preference. But as usual I am prepared for no one to contact me to help. As i stated at the beginning of this mail communication is extremely poor and not for the first time. My experience of this so far will not encourage me to use HCA London Bridge, just hope the operation and support proves to be exceptional Regards Alan Daughtrey |
