It took 4 phone calls and 15 emails ( I was damned if I was going to be totally ignored after they had my money) Specsavers UK HQ, to customer service and directly to the manager to get the manager to ring me to discuss ( I was abroad but gave him a UK phone number.) I had a serious cataract but had not had new glasses for 2 years so went in and asked if it was worth doing. I was told they could not correct the cataract eye but could make it much better. I accepted that judgement and bought a new pair. On collection I said these are no different from my present glasses. They said you just have to get used to them. I was going abroad the next day but did contact the store next day to say I was not satisfied but had no time to return. When I checked my previous prescription I saw the good eye prescription was the same as the one just done so no surprise they were no better. I lived with them for a short while but decided I had to have a cataract operation. After the operation and recovery time I had a new prescription and tried to contact them to discuss what could be done. I suggested by email that as the frame and right eye was perfect perhaps they could just supply a new left lens that I would fit myself. I never asked for the no quibble 100 day refund that I feel I was entitled to. After all those emails and phone calls the manager finally contacted me and said they would supply a new lens but only if I paid part payment. He also said as it was a lens that gets dark in the sun it would be a different colour so I would have to cover the original right eye and put it in the sun daily until they had both faded to the same colour. I Don't know what he thought I was going to do when they were baking in the sun. To be honest I don't even know if the conversation included an apology, it certainly didn't feel like it. Had an eye test three weeks ago in Specsavers NORWICH. Purchased some reading glasses from them and collected them. They felt extremely magnified and so I contacted the store and asked if they could check them. They arranged an appointment for another eye test. The day before my second eye test was planned I went to vision express and had another eye test in order to get a second opinion. I didn't tell vision express about my specsavers test. The results they gave me showed that specsavers had got my prescription back to front. I. E the right eye and left eye results were back to front. I then went back to specsavers expecting a second eye test. They said they would simply grind my new lenses down until they felt acceptable. I said can't I have another eye test and they said no. At this point I said I had an eye test yesterday and it shows different results to the one you gave and the assistant manager said... That's OK we'll just use the results from vision express instead! They didn't even argue that their results would have been correct? Just accepted they had given me the wrong prescription as if it always happens. I was shocked and refused their offer to grind my lenses until they felt OK, which seems to defeat the object of having a test in the first place and asked for a full refund instead. Which they provided. I will go back to vision express in future.
