I've been going to this optometrist for many years, and while one particular optometrist himself has retired now, the business is in good hands. I know many of the staff by name and it's always a pleasant experience when I'm there. They know what they're doing and are all friendly. They work hard to work with every customer from what I can see and whether it's a full exam with the works or just adjusting a pair of spectacles, you're made to feel valuable to the team.
They offer a full computerized eye exam that can actually cross-section the back of your eyeball and show you what's going on in incredible detail. If you have this done on a regular basis, they can use the historical data to build up a history of your eyes. This can be useful to track any abnormalities just to make sure they are not going to lead to nasty surprises years later.
The site also offers a wide range of up-to-date frames and features, even a machine to calibrate your new frames to make sure the lenses will be as accurate as possible to your individual requirements.
In short, for a local shop that's not part of a big chain, the service offered is excellent. The prices are not exorbitant and the people are friendly and helpful. I just picked up a new set of spectacles today, and when I came home, I found a chocolate in the bag along with the cleaning cloth and lens cleaner. A small touch, but who else would send a customer home with a little snack? I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a better optician anywhere in Derbyshire, never mind the city itself. Maybe even the entire Midlands. |
