I regard the monthly scheme as good value.
Out of nowhere I developed a condition that needed constant monitoring. In the last five months I have had eleven appointments at Suttie's and two at the specialist eye centre, upon referral from my optician. Throughout this time it was repeatedly made clear to me that as well as the recommended appointments I was free to make further appointments as and when I felt the need and all of this under the terms of the monthly scheme i.e. at no further cost.
I have needed frequent changes of prescription and types of lenses and each time I have been given free diagnostic lenses to ensure that they suited me. My optician has always explained the reason for each change and has been extremely thorough and professional for which I thank them.
I regard the monthly scheme as insurance and as with all insurance not everybody ends up using it. However I regard my eyesight as important enough to pay for it and I have certainly benefited and would recommend it to others who would not be comfortable paying out large sums over a short period of time. |

I booked for an eye test and a contact lens test. The tests themselves were fine and I have no problems with the medical aspect of this practice. My family have been using this Optician for glasses for some time with no problem and they are happy with the service.
However, when it comes to contact lenses, beware of what is best termed the sharp practices when it comes to payment. Although I had only asked for a test, I was told that if I wanted to buy contact lenses I would have to sign up for a monthly aftercare plan at just under £10 a month. This would cover a lot of things that I hadn’t asked for and the next year’s test and any emergency appointments in between, but did not include lenses or the test that I had just done. Despite being very clear that all I wanted was a test, I was repeated told that this was a good deal for me. It isn’t a good deal for me because it would cost £114 for the next year for a test that I would pay £30 for! It is only a good deal if I actually want any of the other things that an aftercare plan provides. Even though I was clear that I was not interested in a monthly plan, they then tried to sell me a cheaper monthly plan at £6 a month!
The clincher however, was being charged for a second test. I had been given some sample lenses to try and asked to come back the following week. The impression given was that this was just a routine follow up and I was certainly not told that there was anything more than that and certainly not told that I would be charged for a second test. Guess what? That’ll be £30 please. I certainly would not have gone back if I'd been told it was going to cost me again, but I get the impression they knew that. |

My sister and I visited today. My sister has a severe learning disability. The care she received was excellent. We experienced kindness, reassurance, understanding and a willingness to give parity. All the people we encountered at Sutties, Chesham showed courtesy to my sister and treated her with respect and dignity. Thank you. |
