Preston Optical Centre has well laid out premises, uncluttered and tidy. There is a good set of expensive looking equipment with which to do a good job on the eyes. The optician is more than happy to give full but simple explanations of what is happening to your eyes and is good at their job. So that`s alright then isn`t it ? Well no, not really. The optician though friendly and probably because of the time taken with explanations, gives the expression of having to rush the rest of the sight test. This is all well and good, but with the price of spectacles, the client deserves full and undistracted optical attention so that the final prescription is the correct one. The staff are nice people who want to do their best for the client, but with the exception of one who can be a little woolly-headed. They make life hard for themselves, by not always listening to a problem presented by the client. They seem to prefer to make after sales solutions to simple problems, into a big and complex exercise. If they would only listen carefully to the client, a lot of time and bother would be saved, especially to city centre shoppers. It is rather odd that an optician is only available for sight tests (bookable in advance), 3 days a week. Make no mistake, they are a rattlingly good optician and will give a good eye test if allowed to concentrate on the job in hand without allowing distractions to interfere. There are a lot of upsides to Preston Optical Centre, but they really should give their staff training in discernment, listening and best concise practice for a busy shopper with a problem.
