When I went for annual eye test at HS&H, Peterborough, I was told there were "signs of wear and tear" and I should wear sun glasses in bright conditions and always when driving during the day. I was recommended to a pair of Oakley glasses because they were one of the limited range who would fit prescription lenses and were a quality product. I was even told they would be admired by people in the know, they were that good. But with normal wear, the support on one side snapped to reveal the cheapest brittle plastic normally found on
I returned to the shop expecting a helpful response. I did not expect replacement without cost because they were out of guarantee, but the the assistant gave no advice or offer of help. Said merely leave them and I will contact Oakley. A couple of days later she rang and said Oakley say they cannot help, so the broken glasses are waiting for you to collect
I have visited this opticians many times, so that there is no one datye to give
The assistant completely distanced themselves from the matter. I have two pairs of bi-focals.(one pair as a back-up in case of loss of breakage) and a pair for working on my computer. My wife has another pair, so we have been reasonable customers.
All I expected was a little interest from the assistant with, for example: "Let me look at them. I know more about glasses and their construction than you do, and I can perhaps suggest the best solution."
And when I got a tube of super glue and stuck the broken side piece in about five minutes, I thought how easily that assistant could have sent me out of the Peterborough shop with the best of customer feelings.
Instead, they sent me out giving the parting shot: "That's the last time you'll see me."
My wife will make up her own mind,.
I would be prepared to bet that I'd have got better treatment at Specsavers. I will hardly recommend HS&H to anyone Though i cannot signify less than 2 stars above |
