I was recently referred to Specsavers for a hearing test by my Dr. the reason for this was due to a medical condition I had developed over the past few months with my balance. It was decided given my medical condition that part of the elimination process was a hearing test. I received my appointment and 48 hours before visiting I received a call from Specsavers saying that they would unable to carry out a hearing test as Was Not due to no update to my hearing until November 2022. This was devastating news having waited 3 weeks for my appointment and no during my wait is referred back to my Dr. that they could not provide this service and their reasoning. I Can understand the NHS giving contracts to outside agencies to take the pressure off them but find it difficult to comprehend that they can become medics without any formal training or history of the patient. Even more Ironic as the day before my appointment I received another call from Specsavers advising me that I wasn't allowed to visit their store as I was barred due to a dispute I had with them two years ago over an eye test. I find it astounding that Specsavers is allowed to control a patient's and Dr.s referral/medical investigation and possibly aid in their speedy recovery. I don't believe that this has anything to do with constraints or contractual restraints. I believe this is to do with the that I dared to question their honesty and integrity when delivering an eye test to me. I don’t resent being treated by Specsavers I resent their inability to quickly pass information back to my doctors. I don't believe Specsavers should be allowed this power and have a duty of care to the patient to ensure that their medical condition is dealt with swiftly, let the medical profession decide the prognosis and aftercare. that is what they are trained to do. Rest assured I will be taking this matter further and believe that talking to Specsavers will not change their profit-seeking attitude. |
