I recently had my eyes tested by Prescriptive Optometrists on the basis of their good reviews. The test itself was very long but it gave me hope. I do not know why they charged me for the test, as I'm 72, but paid. I didn't get my glasses made there because of their protocols (appointments for browsing, ordering, fitting, collection etc), which would have extended the process into weeks. I asked them for my prescription instead and took it to another optician my wife had been using, to save time. When the glasses were made (distance and reading), neither the distance ones nor the reading ones were right. The shop redid them, but no difference. With these I wouldn't legally be allowed to drive and would find reading difficult. I expressed my frustration as the frames were expensive too. They kindly offered to have my eyes re-tested by their own optician and found considerable variance in the results. The new glasses that they made were perfect. I was not charged at all and the service was caring throughout. I should have listened to my wife. I would have had the right glasses in 2 weeks instead of 5. Prescriptive Optometrists not only charged a very senior citizen but were incompetent too. Lesson: Personal recommendations are more reliable than reviews. Sent from my iPad |

There may well be cheaper opticians but the helpful, friendly and, above all, thoroughly professional service is beyond criticism. Am happy to recommend them. I'm very pleased with my new specs. |
