Have just bought a fourth pair of (slightly different) sunspecs from Optilabs after many years of exemplary service. The frames have withstood many years of rugged sports use, prescription lenses give sharper vision than any others I've owned, and customer service is first class. |

I have been buying glasses from Optilabs for the last 15 years maybe more! I started with a pair of glasses that I could use for skiing and sunny days. I enjoyed these so much when my prescription changed I bought another pair.
I then later on when my prescription changed bought a new pair for skiing and a pair for fishing. The frames are robust and have taken rough treatment without breaking. as the lenses on the glasses are wrap around they do suffer from distortion at the edges this is a problem on all wrap around lenses I have been told by other users.
Now that I am getting old and my eyesight aint what it used to be I have returned to Optilabs for Bifocals for fishing as I cant see to tie the knots anymore, Whilst there I ordered more lenses for my skiing glasses and new varifocal lenses for my everyday glasses as they do a really good service at putting new lenses into old frames. They are quick, efficient and friendly |

I purchased a pair of cycling glasses from Optilabs and inside a year the frame redevelop a crack near the hinge. Optilabs were very efficient in replacing it so no complaints there. However, after a further year or so, the same thing happened again. In addition to his, the soft rubbery coating started peeling off and the lens coatings started showing signs of a reaction - water rings or stains that would not wipe away. This got progressively worse until the glasses were virtually unusable.
Optilabs agreed to inspect them albeit that they were out of warranty and the outcome was that they offered me £20 off a new pair. Needles to say, I did not accept the offer and am buying my cycling glasses elsewhere now. They clearly had a problem with this model (Mirage I think) as they have since been removed from the catalogue.
Legally Optilabs has done nothing wrong, but I expect a pair of glasses to be serviceable .for more than 18 months! |
