I've been getting my specs from the optician for almost 30 years now. He is not the cheapest, but prides himself on both his service and the quality of the lines he carries and he has never done me a duff pair in all that time. As a long standing customer, I can also add that he is always open to an appropriate level of "price negotiation" shall we say (much more fun than getting some spurious 'Golden Ticket' as other chain brands are now doing).
