Mom and I booked free eye tests but was unable to keep our appointments * 2 (I've got my shame face on), but, we were easily able to rebook and both had thorough eye tests (you never know what to expect with a free service). My tests revealed small changes in short sight - but marked changes for reading - which was expected, given that I have to raise my glasses over my head to read. Although my mother went kicking and screaming (she has an aversion to any type of medical intervention) I now know that she has really bad cataracts and I am doing something about it.
I couldn't fault the service in any way. From the floor staff to the optometrist - they were all great - they were attentive, knowledgeable, experienced and answered all of our questions. Time was also spent helping me to go through my spec options and I also had a free contact lens trial arranged. I did not feel pressured to buy -
which is my preferred sales approach when shopping - if I do decide to purchase, it will be at this branch.
Whilst I am not one who usually post reviews - I do read reviews, mainly the negative reviews first to know what could go wrong, before any balanced consideration - having read these, I was reluctant to book an appointment. It's because of this that I felt compelled to return and share my experience, which was great. I am already booking time in my diary for next year and if it's free at that time then I am even better off...
Thanks to staff at Weston Favell branch |

I booked an eye test at Tesco, Weston Favell as it was free and seemed to be a convenient choice. The optician was grumpy and impolite. They just seemed interested in getting me out as quickly as possible. I arrived early, went in ten minutes late (despite being one of the first of the day) and had an appointment taking less than five minutes.
I simply do not trust the accuracy of the prescription, so I'm going to another optician.
I was not surprised all the reviews here are one star, with no responses from Tesco. In this case, you get what you pay for. Reply from Tesco Opticians Mon, 10 Jul 2017 13:27:00 +0100 Hi there I'm really sorry to learn of the poor service that you received when visiting our Weston Favell in store opticians. In order to look into this for you, can you please send a copy of this review along with your name, address, post code and contact number to opticians@tesco.co.uk. Once we receive this information, we will be able to pass this to the correct opticians manager. Thanks Brooke Tesco Opticians |

the optometrists was very helpful and took their time and explained the process of verifocals for me after cataract surgery or using 2 pairs of glasses, the whole process was really good,
and they also pointed out other things to be mindful and careful of, all of the staff were very helpfull |
