My distance vision is OK but needs slight correction but I need glasses for close vision so varilux lensses are required. Also because of my age is is wise to have UV protection so my prescription is a bit more complex than average,
Because they had an appointment available sooner than anyone else I first used Optical Express (OE) in January 2017 and again in January 2018 in Crawley (West Sussex) shopping Mall. I returned there the second time because although the admin was a bit of a shambles (receptionist incompetent) the optometrist was extremely diligent and explained everything she did including the prescription. She also E-Mailed me a complete result of the examination along with the prescripion which I kept on file. She also was very helpful in selecting the frame which was very unusual and made a very good choice. However, that was the only good thing about using OE (but admittedly that's important) my new spectacles had arrived, so, they just sat there because no-one told me. When I called in to find out what had happened the same incompetent denied they were on the premises but when I became insistent (third visit) the optomistrist herself located them, apologised and, made sure they were OK.,
In December 2017 when overseas I got text messages from OE reminding me I was due for another eye test. so, when I returned I made an appointment for January 12th (2018) when I saw to my relief that the incompetent receptionist had gone, However her replacement was worse. She hummed and haad and made three mistakes on the date and time which I corrected in fromt of her (I still have the docket to prove it) when I returned home I found an E-Mail with ANOTHER time on it. By a miracle (it seems) I had an eye test but it was a different optomitrist who was also very capable, Unfortunately I could not avoid contact with the incompetent receptionist and guess what she did? She changed my email address to the wrong one so I did not receive the prescription! Mercifully, another member of the staff had dealt with me towards the end and she telephoned me in good time when my spectacles had arrived (on January 22nd) She located the incorrect EMAil address, could not resend the prescriotion but was able to print it for me,
I have lost count of the mistakes made in that branch. I will not return. |
