I've been a customer of the pharmacy within this store for approximately five years. The staff who work within the pharmacy are all friendly, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. But the pharmacy is clearly under-resourced in terms of staffing and this has had a consistently negative impact upon the service I have received.
I have used the electronic prescription service for approximately three years, and every month I am supposed to receive a text message when my prescription is ready. Some months, this happens, Other months, it happens about a week after the prescription arrives. And some months, I get no text at all. To compound the situation, it is very difficult to get through to speak to them on the phone.
So I just have to turn up and hope for the best. Some months, my prescription has not arrived and I do not find out one way or another until I turn up, and the it needs to be sorted out on the spot with phone calls to my GP and I normally then have to come back.
The staff are always polite and apologetic but they have never been able to explain why the text message notifications are so erratic and it is clear to see why the phone is rarely answered - the pharmacy is extremely busy and the staff are nearly always on the phone dealing with problems.
I also feel that the staff are pressured/targeted to complete medication reviews with me, which are totally pointless. One time I told the pharmacist that I had literally just come from a visit to my GP where my medication was reviewed, but this did not deter her from wanting to undertake her own review. If your prescription has not changed for a long time and you see your GP regularly, then participating in a review at a private sector pharmacy could be a waste of public money.
I have finally ran out of patience and taken my service to a quieter city centre pharmacy. |

The staff are mostly courteous.
However, when I have given notice (at least one hour), I have returned to the pharmacy and items were unprepared meaning another quarter of an hour wait. I think the pharmacy is inadequately staffed and I have experienced delays on prescription medicines on several occasions because of 'manufacturer's problems'. The company should employ more staff in the pharmacy. |
