I visited my usual pharmacy at hillview road ,Bournemouth unfortunately there was a long queue . a pharmacist and 1shop assistant were in attendance. Surely there should have been more staff with the chemist being shut over Christmas and people like myself needing to collect medication . I had been to the chemist earlier in the week when they were struggling to keep up with dispensing prescriptions. The new electronic way of receiving prescriptions appears to have not been thought through with its demands on the time of pharmacist and shop assistant. Hopefully the electronic system will be over its teething problems!!! |

I had 2 minutes until the pharmacy was closing. I had just got my prescription from the doctors given that I had the last appointment of the day and it was a Friday evening. I arrived at the door which was open and was about to step through it when one of the staff ran across the room and started closing the door as I started to go through it. There were 2 customers already in there who saw the whole thing. I showed the member of staff my prescription and asked if I could please have my prescription with a nice smile on my face. While the member of staff was locking the door they just shook their head at me and said they were closing. The member of staff had an amused and nasty look on their face and made me feel really stupid. I looked down at my phone and there was 2 minutes until closing and the other two customers were still being served. Given that I had a prescription in hand and looked upset I'd have thought they could used those 2 minutes to serve me. I started to ask if the member of staff could tell me where the next nearest pharmacy was and they just walked off when I was in mid sentence. I felt like crying. I've never encountered such childish and petty behaviour since I was at school. For all they knew my prescription might have been for pain relief and I would have had to spend the whole weekend in pain. I hope someone will speak to them as it is not the first I've heard of rude and insensitive attitudes at that pharmacy. |
