Community pharmacists are ideally suited to help people with long-term conditions to manage their often complex individual prescription-only medications. Sadly the service now appears to be putting the cost of prescription-only medication before the individual and making them 'Jump through hoops' to explain why changing the medication to Genetic brands without any discussion causes fluctuation in symptoms which affect the quality of life. Just recently my clinical team all working together in collaboration with myself and family established a medication regime to establish the optimal plan of care for my progressive condition. This now autocratic delivery of a service that was once upon a time person-centred is putting vulnerable people with long-term conditions at risk of harm,

Third time visiting this pharmacy, third time didn't have the medication ordered on the prescription. I can only take my mother there at certain times due to work and as she doesn't drive, it entails her having to get a taxi back to pick up the remainder. We're not talking about expensive one off medication either. We're talking patches for giving up smoking and inhalers. With being next to the surgery you would think they would stock more commonly used items, but to be told " there are so many different ones, we wait until we get the prescription before ordering". Not acceptable Boots. Get your act together. No offer of delivering even though Mum explained about not getting back. " you could take your prescription elsewhere" was the reply. Come on Boots, you have a customer willing to use your pharmacy. Try at least to keep that customer. Poor service.
