I am aware that some pharmacists can prescribe antibiotics . It is a weekend , and I need to be seen and prescribed something for a painful UTI . I am an ex nurse , and well aware of the indications for antibiotics etc . I called the chemist to speak to someone who didn’t introduce himself . When I asked if he was the pharmacist - he replied “ er … er …. Yeah alright “ . Nine the less , I explained what I needed and he clearly didn’t have a clue what he was talking about . He told me that no pharmacists could prescribe . I told him that my cousin in Birmingham is a prescribing chemist . He then said “ none in a community pharmacy . My cousin works in a Lloyds ( I think ) , but deffo not a hospital . I asked him what the difference was - and he hung up . This was in between talking to his colleagues about something else ( while I waited online ) . I know that some people would let this go , but I’m in pain and feel really shocking . I don’t have the stamina to drive to the hospital and just needed access to the correct treatment until I could see my GP on Monday . My notes are all on the spine and I’m prepared to give a sample etc . Politeness and basic empathy wouldn’t have been out of place - nor would a little bit of actual knowledge from this man who apparently is the , er.. pharmacist on duty today .

I attended this pharmacy due to being in the area. I wanted some advice due to not being very well, I was very upset at how I was treated, the attitude from the 2 members of staff. If you don’t want to deal with customers you are in the wrong job. Nobody else was waiting and all they wanted to do was chat amongst themselves. STAY CLEAR AND DONT WASTE YOUR TIME LIKE I DID
