Got asked if I am taking any other medications, so answered yes, and was told can you tell me, so I did.
Amlodipine, Tamsulosin, Ranitidine, Quinine sulphate and loratadine. Then was asked the most stupid question I have ever heard. Do you take anything for high blood pressure,
I'm astounded! . If the staff don't know the drugs are and what they are for why the hell do they ask.
Amlodipine is a blood pressure drug.
Really basic training to know this, you may need to address or what's the point in asking the questions.
Don't ask the question if you don't know the answer.

In Hednesford a service is offered where they will order your repeat prescription for you at the appropriate frequency.
However, the first time that they were supposed to order them for me they didn't, saying they'd made an error. They then reordered them for me, and I got some just in time. I've since checked with them that my next lot (coming up soon) will be there on time, only to be told that, because my repeat is for a 100 day frequency (not 30, 60 or 90), they can't reorder them. If I hadn't checked, I'd have ended up running out. They also didn't hand my repeat back and told me they can't now, so I'll have to waste my GP's time getting another one filed.
What really annoyed me though was my wife's experience. She'd had a much better experience over a couple of months (30 day frequency), until last month they just didn't order her prescription. When we went to try and sort it out, they tried to make it sound like my wife's fault ("I always tell people to order them themselves" - something no member of staff has ever said to either of us previously).
My wife was running out, and the GP couldn't get a new prescription there that day, so we asked for an emergency prescription of a day's worth to get her through. She was then spoken to in a condescending manner about how she shouldn't "keep needing" emergency supplies and told reluctantly that they could do it this time, but they'd put a note on her file that she was not to have any more emergency supplies in the future, as she'd needed it once before. We couldnt remember another instance, but it's entirely possible that she's needed it at some point in the past, the medication is for bipolar disorder after all.
So beware of this service, and Tesco pharmacy in general. We're both now using a local pharmacy instead, and are putting in our repeats ourselves, as, ironically, it's more convenient. |
