Oaks Hospital

Feedback regarding any scans/tests carried out at this hospital on the NHS seems to be lacking. Where a patient is advised to have scans or other procedures carried out it should be normal practice for a patient to later receive results in writing. In my particular case I have still not received written results of two scans that were carried out in April and written results of a separate procedure in July were only sent to me after repeated requests. Even this was a little confusing as it mentioned a different condition to the one that I had been suffering from.

I arranged an x-ray for my 91 year old mother as she was in excruciating pain and would have to wait under the NHS. It was for the next day and afterwards we were told that the result would be emailed to her GP that afternoon. It eventually arrived two weeks later after lots of chasing up and only after the GP got involved.The bill arrived first! We are not impressed! I was even less impressed when I found that the hospitals own feedback form didnt work!

I am extremely disappointed to hear that you and your mother had a bad experience with our Imaging department, most specifically that you did not receive the Imaging report in a timely manner as promised. Where do I start; A consultant performed a private septoplasty on myself, to which I was very pleased with the care then in 2017. Last year; I suffered with a sore throat from September - December, after countless drs visits, not getting anywhere I thought I’ll turn to the expert pay (worth every penny) to see the same consultant. The consultant always polite, actually found a problem with my lingual tonsils, to which he suggested an MRI, in the process of the wait for that, I suffer with health anxiety which doesn’t help, he was very much there for me, to really try and reassure me as he knew just how anxious I was. He called me too to give me my results- normal! And I was so relieved. Honestly; I cannot thank him enough, if you want 5* service with empathy if you get anxious about these things like me, he is brilliant. I can’t thank you enough, best ENT dr you could see.
