Within 24 hours of my relative staying here let alone only under the conditions of rest bite. My relative has dementia and we were told as a family that this care home but provide the right care for them with nursing care. Seeing the change in my relative over 24 hours was very dramatic and deteriorating. For a resident who can not support themselves eating, going to the toilet or changing their incontinent pad, not remembering to drink and therefore becoming very dehydrated making the resident extremely worse it was made very clear that my relative was not having no care or support in these areas. When visiting for the first time, we found our relative with dinner all down them let alone not even sitting at a table with no supervision to help my relative eat, with no drink at all and left on their own in the corner of the room unattended. We took my relative into their room, and wanted to get a cup to give them a drink and 3 carers were just standing their talking, leaving residents in wheelchairs to see to themselves going to the toilet and a resident screaming for help. Once my relative was in their room, they were extremely soiled which had been left not dealt with straight away therefore we had to deal with this. My relative was extremely tired and fell to sleep straight away. We were told that ‘we need to give them time to get to know our relative’. On leaving the premises we then took further action. Finally other family members visited later and our relative had not been given any more juice since when we left 4 hours previous. I am extremely upset and I have picture evidence of this happening. We then took further action and brought our relative home. |
