Benton House

We were faced with the agonising decision of having to find a care home for our father who has vascular dementia. We visited a number of homes but they did not meet the needs of our father. On visiting Benton House we found a team of staff who could provide the level of care our father needed. Dad has now been a resident for 3 years, and the level of care provided has been excellent, and Dad is well looked after. Dad has his own room, which has all his own furniture and belongings which personalises the room. The food is all cooked fresh and the variety and menu is excellent. If Dad wants a full cooked breakfast he can have it. Dad is a good eater and he looks the same physically as he did when he was in his own home. As a family we know that our father is well looked after and provided with the right level of care which we know he needs. It means we can have peace of mind when we are not there visiting him. The owners of the home take great care in providing the right environment for the residents and they are not frightened to spend money to meet the residents needs. There is a member of staff whose sole role is to arrange activities and trips out. We had Xmas lunch out with Dad and other residents. The homes Xmas party was a great success with a singer, tombola, raffles and activities. It is a hard decision when looking for a care home for a relative; my advice is look beyond the decor, visit at different times, if possible speak to other relatives who are visiting, does the home have awaing list. Its the level of care that matters above all.
