What areas are treated by liposuction?
Liposuction is commonly used to treat patients who are near normal weight and have firm elastic skin. It is not a substitution for weight loss. Common areas treated are:
Stomach
Hips
Thighs
Buttocks
Knees
Neck
Upper arms
Male breasts
What happens during liposuction?
Your consultant will assess your overall health, skin quality and the amount of fat to be removed before talking you through what approach will be used.
Various types of anaesthesia are used during liposuction. If only small areas of fat are to be removed you may have local anaesthetic. More extensive surgery may require general anaesthetic. The length of your liposuction procedure will depend on the amount of fat being removed.
Your surgeon will make a small incision in the skin. Using a thin, hollow tube they will break up the fat cells beneath the skin surface and remove them with a special suction or vacuum. Several incisions may be required for larger areas. Any incisions will be stitched at the end of the procedure. The area will be bandaged for support.Hospital Consultants Specialties :

The facilities are exemplary and immaculately clean and well presented. The service from initial contact was speedily expedited.

May 13 2023 I underwent total knee replacement surgery on two occasions in September 21 and Feb 23 and would like to say that on both occasions the treatment and care I received from the surgeon and nurses was exemplary . My stayin hospital was for 2/3 days and on discharge was given adequate medication and an ice cuff My wound was covered in a waterproof dressing and so was able to shower the day after the operation ,The clips were removed by a nurse at the doctors surgery after 10 days. The followup physio and excercises ensured myknee attained the maximum bend. However not all NHS providers in Plymouth are as helpful . My neighbour had a total knee replacement on 5th May this year. She was discharged the day following the operation with medication but no ice cuff. Her wound has been glued and covered Una waterproof dressing but with instructions not to shower for 2weeks When she rang her surgery for an appointment for the dressing to be changed in 10 daysan appointment was not available and she was told to go to A&E . I feel very fortunate to have attended the Nuffield for my operations and fail to see why other providers are not as effective.

Oct 12 2023 What can I say about the theatre team I had, top team, couldnt ask for more, had a full knee replacement and everyone played their part. I really am grateful for this team for putting me at ease and making sure this operation went as smoothly as it possibly could.
