Procedure Information
Liposuction is a way of getting rid of stubborn fat that will not go away despite your best efforts to improve your lifestyle through diet and exercise. It doesnt remove cellulite, stretch marks or loose skin but can be used to reduce male breasts (gynaecomastia) and excess fluid. The most common benefits of liposuction include: less body fat better self-confidence and self-esteem ability to wear clothes that were previously unsuitable a feeling that your body is now in proportion. It is not normally available on the NHS except when it is being performed as part of reconstructive surgery.
The operation usually takes from one to three hours and is carried out under general anaesthesia, so you will be asleep throughout. Sometimes, you might have a local anaesthetic (where only one area of the body is numbed and you are awake) if the liposuction is performed on a very small area of the body. If the treatment is on the lower body, an epidural may be used.

Apr 13 2023 I went in hospital for day case at 12.30 the nurse I see him once for check in then nothing I was very anxious and stressed . I never got taken for op until 6pm this was after I called on my buzzer as I’m sure I was forgotten cause a different nurse come in before op and ask if I’m waiting to go home I hadn’t even been sent for o yet .then had different nurse lovely girl who couldn’t apologise enough that I was kept informed. After op I had no information from doctor as it was late and the nurse said his gone home . I don’t know how it went when dressing needs coming off only got told I can walk on it and wait to hear from physio. Been to this hospital a number of times in the past and never had this lack of care such a shame . Iv not got follow up till May now wish never had the op so stressful
Spire Wellesley HospitalBy: Anonymous Rating:.. Jan 6 2022 I was advised by the receptionist that they had a consultant who could deal with my problem and interpret my MRI scan. On arrival, the consultant was unable to do this as he was a specialist in varicose veins! He promised to take my scan cd and pass it to a radiologist to interpret and get back to me with the findings. After 3 e-mail requests and 2 months, I’ve never heard a thing. I paid £180 for absolutely nothing.
