I attended in June 2021 and was referred to QEUH. I was advised that there was a long waiting list following the pandemic and an appointment would take some time. By June 2022 I still had no word from the hospital. I visited the surgery on 1 June to find out what he situation was. I was told that the dentist could not access the tracking process but someone would get back to me. By 6 June I still had not heard from the surgery,although I am not sure if this was caused by the long weekend. I visited the surgery about 3 pm and was told that the dentist was with a patient and that someone would get back to me. However by 9 June I still had not heard from the surgery and called the surgery. I was told that the tracking was still down and was advised to contact the hospital to find what was happening. Surely it is the surgery's task to follow up referrals, not the patient's. I contacted the hospital and was told that the referral had only been received that day!! I called the surgery back and told them what had happened. I was told that that could not be the case,bas the system had been down for several weeks. I was advised that the dentist would not be in the surgery on 10 June, but the receptionist would speak him before the end of the shift and get back to me today. I find this whole situation unacceptable. I cannot understand why, despite several contacts with the surgery, no one has ever returned my calls. I find it difficult to accept that a vital referral system is down for several weeks and the surgery cannot use another means of contact, yet ask the patient to do so. Never at any time since 1 June has anyone asked how I am coping with my dental health, after waiting a year for a hospital appointment. I have not had any problems with the professional dental care I have received. However the support services and customer care are sadly lacking.
