    I moved in to this area about 6mths ago and I can't speak highly enough of the difference between this surgery and where I was last registered. Twice I have had to call for an urgent appointment either for me or my child and both times I have been seen immediately. I was given an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner who was very helpful and informative and my baby was given an appointment with the GP who was caring and reassuring. We both got great care in a lovely, friendly but professional surgery

    Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback. We reviewed our appointment system last year and introduced Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Same day MSK physio's, Pharmacists and daily triage. We have also introduced additional evening and weekend appointments. These changes have brought about a significant improvement to our availability of both urgent and routine availability of appointments and I'm really pleased that your experiences appear to bear this out.     I have sent a review - you ask for verification of my email- however- rather like your appointment system, when I go to the link to VERIFY my email it simply takes me back to the menu again and , indeed, the review menu again- just like your appointment system - not fit for purpose!

    The appointment system is a travesty; failing to get through by phone I called in on a Monday morning and was told no appointments were available until the following week - anything earlier has to be done by phone. I challenge anyone within the surgery to get through by phone; even when you do it does not accept the “touch phone” - date of birth, phone number etc system, refers you back to the beginning and start all over again. I shall be changing my surgery !

    I'm very sorry to hear that you have had problems making an appointment. We have recently changed our appointment system in order to try and deal with the ever increasing demand for appointments. In the past patients with problems needing attention on the same day were offered an appointment with a doctor or a nurse practitioner. This led to increased waiting times for routine appointments as slots were saved each day for urgent problems. Since we introduced this triage system 4 weeks ago we have received a lot of very positive feedback from patients. The majority of patients phoning for a same day urgent appointment can be appropriately managed with telephone advice. Of course, triage means that the GP assesses the needs of each patient and will allocate them an appropriate appointment if their problem is not suitable for telephone advice. By managing the urgent problems more effectively we have been able to increase the number of routine appointments and reduce waiting times. We recognise that if patients suffer with long term or complex conditions you may wish to make a routine appointment with your usual doctor or practice nurse. Since the introduction of triage we have been able to add in an average of 150 extra routine appointments per week. In order to offer patients as much choice as possible we have set up a system of staggering the release of routine appointments. There are always routine appointments available two to three weeks in advance for non-urgent matters but in addition to this we release a number of appointments every day spread over the next three consecutive days. Patient partner has been introduced as an additional method for booking appointments but it is not the only option. Appointments can be made online if you register for online services on the web site. Whilst appointments are released at 10pm, Patient Partner is available to use right up until our phone lines open at 8am so those patients who do not wish to stay up until 10pm can call when they get up in the morning. Our phones are exceptionally busy. We have 3 receptionists answering the phones and last Monday morning we took a total of 85 calls in the first hour alone. I am sorry that you are unhappy with the service you received. We do value all feedback we receive. We take complaints very seriously and raise them as ‘Significant Events’. They are then discussed by the whole practice team with a view to improving practice. Kind regards Nanette Nobes Practice Business Manager
