I noticed a suspicious looking bite mark on my daughters leg (it looked like a tick bite but I had not seen a tick on her so I was unsure on what to do). I phoned the doctors at 8.45am and spoke to reception. The doctor called me back by 9am and made an appointment for 10.40am that day for my daughter to be seen by our actual doctor. I simply cannot ask for better - to be given an appointment with our doctor within 2 hours of calling them is excellent service in my opinion. Whenever I have had to contact them for either myself or my children (which thankfully is not too often) I have received a similar service. My father was admitted to Pinewood Nursing Home with a terminal neurological condition lat the end of last year. We were fortunate that this surgery was prepared to take him on having moved in from another area, despite it being at the limit of its boundary. The care and attention from the nursing home staff was superb and the medical care offered by a doctor, particularly in the last weeks was second to none. Both parts of the care system worked together very effectively to provide the necessary medical support; it was an exemplar of how to cooperate to deliver the highest standard of care to an elderly patient. Towards the end, the doctor was very empathetic but decisive and never seemed too busy to explain the health care options available, including all the close family in the process. We were all hugely grateful for the way in which she eased his pain and suffering in such a compassionate way from what was a debilitating condition. If this was not enough, my elderly mother, who was up visiting, needed support herself, both with sleeping and medical care following a fall which had her in and out of the surgery. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone seemed endlessly patient and caring. My father’s passing was difficult enough but I cannot imagine how we would have coped by ourselves without the combined efforts of the nursing home, doctor and the team at Emsworth Surgery. Both my husband and I find the staff at the North Street Surgery in Emsworth a pleasure to deal with. They are always courteous, helpful, friendly and professional.These comments equally apply to our nominated doctor. It is very reassuring when requesting help regarding health matters to find people with a 'can do attitude'.
