I had a phone consultation with my gp and given a fit note for two weeks . my gp then told me should book another appointment before the fit note ended. When I tried to do this I was told by the receptionist I couldn't as my Gp was on annual leave at that time. I asked if I could book an appointment with another gp before the fit note ended . Again told no as I have to see my own gp all very unhelpful to say the least as I was diagnosed with anxiety and stress and put on medication this situation did not help. The receptionist asked dont you think you will be ready to go back to work at the end of the fit note again rude as I don't know if the medication will work or if I would have improved by then. So now I have a appointment on the 10.06 .21 which completely defeats the object of a follow up appointment to see how i am doing and if I should return to work. |

It's so difficult to get an appointment. I've phoned in at 8am 3 tines for the line to be busy each time. Staff on reception can be quite cold and often rude on the phone and when I've visited in person. Appointments with my GP were not very reassuring
I see the reasoning behind only being allowed to see your assigned GO but this has led to to difficulties getting an appointment for a one off problem. |

This is to say that our family have always been very satisfied with the North Harbour Medical Group for over 30 years now including our three sons who now no longer live in Cosham.
The reception staff at NHMG are very proficient dealing with the appointment system compared to the reception staff of Dr's previously of Northern Road, Cosham - it was such a challenge dealing with them. We have always found the practice nurses at the NHMG also to be committed professionals.
Years ago, Joan was suffering from hypothyroidism for quite some time which wasn't diagnosed until we switched to NHMG where it was diagnosed by a doctor through a blood test. Another doctor her previous Dr. said she suffering from depression, nervous exhaustion or even would you believe as he suggested 'swinging the lead'. She had to self-certificate to go off sick after working for 14 years as the doctor didn’t think she was ill enough for him to give her a sick-note – she felt she had no option but to resign from her job as she needed ‘peace of mind’ to recover and this was even before she was diagnosed. It was quite some time before she felt well enough to take on another secretarial job When she suggested to the doctor years earlier that she wished to have the contraceptive cap removed as she was bleeding heavily, his treatment was as if he was beating eggs (to clean her out he said) so Joan had to ask a neighbour in to see to her three young children so she could go to bed whilst her husband was on the 2.00pm – 10.00pm shift - he was a police officer.
When Joan tells friends and family that she can 'phone NHMG at 8.00am and get an appointment that day, they then tell her they have to wait sometimes two weeks before they can get an appointment. Also, we see our own Dr. each time we have an appointment which is so reassuring as our Dr. Natasha knows our history whereas they have to see different Dr's.
Joan and her husband David appreciate how lucky they have been and are receiving health care at the NHMG. Our trusted Dr. is our third Dr. in over 30 years and not many people can say that.
