I have been a patient at Emmer Green Surgery for 38 years and have always been treated with compassion and expertise in particular my dedicated Dr. However recently as he wasn't available I saw another doctor who was equally sympathetic and successfully treated a recurring chest infection. She gave me the necessary information to contact Townlands Hospital, Henley for a chest X-ray. I was given an appointment for the next day! I had an appointment with the same doctor for the result and was greatly relieved that my chest was clear. I also mentioned to her that I had suffered very painful Sciatica and had that week ordered through the Daily Mail an Accupressure Wrap, "Sciaticure", would she mind having a look at it to make sure it would not have any adverse effects. The doctor was very interested and asked if I would let her know if it helped relieve the pain. I used it immediately and within 3 days all the pain had gone and I am very pleased to report that it has not returned, even after quite a long walk this afternoon. Will you please pass this on to the doctor together with my thanks. Despite many complaints regarding the NHS I have none!

This morning I was seen exactly on time of my scheduled appointment. The GP examined the pattern of my blood opressure readings over a period of time, and the result of my recent blood test to check the cholesterol level. I described the issue of swollen ankles I have been suffering from recently. The doctor also took my blood pressure which happened to be a bit on the high side at that moment. She explained in a very friendly manner how the risk of a possible future stroke or heart problem is computer calculated and outlined the best course of treatment. I felt I was being treated as a partner in the conversation. She also dealt with my wrist and knee injury, which was not part of the original appointment. (I had a bad fall on the garden patio the previous night) Finally, she also advised for me to have a smear test. At the end I was given a prescription for a new drug combination which will hopefully deal with the hypertension issue and the swelling. I left reassured and quite confident I got the best service and advice available. The only problem is that appointments with that particular GP are very difficult to get. Because of the nature of my condition I would like some continuty and to be seen by the same GP most times, if not always. |
