Sadly I have to say that 9 times out of 10 my prescription is either incorrect or items are missed off. I dread going into reception to discuss the matter as the waiting room can hear all my medical history being discussed. It has become a joke with my family and friends to see if my meds are prescribed correctly.
I have been driven to tears with the way I have been treated by staff. However my GP is very good if only I could get to see her.
One of my prescriptions was actually on its way to another lady with the same name but was thankfully intercepted by a third party.
I plucked up the courage recently to visit reception to correct yet another incorrect prescription, I was dealt with by a lovely lady who sorted out the problem discreetly and the mistake was swiftly corrected without the it can’t be us it must be you attitude.Living in hope that this standard continues. |

It is all but impossible to get a same day appointment unless you can be one of the first to have your call answered at 0830hrs or sit in the surgery waiting for the reception to open. I work in Birmingham and getting an appointment, even for later in the day is near impossible.
The best doctor to see understood ex-service personnel and had time to sit and discuss your concerns. Since he moved on to other things I have not found a doctor who does not simply want to get you in and out the door again as far as possible. I appreciate and understand the doctors are busy, but sometimes taking a moment to ask a question opens up the real reason for a visit. I have, several times, gone to see a doctor but ended up not covering the thing I wanted to talk about because I felt obliged to simply get in and out.
I was ill earlier this week, but couldn't get an appointment this week, so ended up calling 111 and getting into a drop in centre close to my work place, not ideal, but very friendly staff. :-)
The surgery is good, don't get me wrong, but the doctors are just too busy to actually be able to care. |

I really can’t speak highly enough of this practice. The professionals here deal with patients with dignity and respect. As a family we have been through some difficult times but the GPs and reception staff have afforded us time and specialist care.
In particular, I have found one lady to be an absolute gem. Nothing is too much trouble and she has gone over and above what could be reasonably expected. Many thanks for this!
One doctor has given amazing care to my son; this under very difficult circumstances. He has built a rapport with him that has been truely cathartic and has fascilitated a treatment regime that is potent and invaluable. My own GP has been fantastic, has made time for me and has proved to be a great professional who has dealt with my health issues in an understanding an compassionate manner.
I think it’s important to enjoy a relationship of mutual respect and that we must remember that staff also have feelings and should be spoken to in an appropriate manner. The vast majority of people do this but, on rare occasions, I have witnessed patients being rude and aggressive with reception staff. This is totally unacceptable and shouldn’t be tolerated.
As stated, I feel that the team at Shawbirch provide an invaluable service to the comunity and I appreciate the support and treatment they offer. Thanks again and, Carole, I especially wish to extend personal thanks for your time and devotion to duty. |
