I went in with a fungal ear infection in October. I knew it was such from experience (I spend a lot of time in the water and can tell the difference between fungal and bacterial). I let the doctor know what I believed it was, and proceeded to get treated for everything else barr a fungal ear. Bacterial, Ear eczema, bacterial again, No treatment because of sensitivity. Obviously this made the situation worse until I ended up phoning 111 in tears and had the out of hours GP look in my ear and diagnose a fungus and told me to demand a swab from my GP. Elms GP reluctantly did a swab, telling me it was nothing. I demanded the treatment regardless because it wouldn't hurt if I was wrong. Swab came back positive for fungus. Obviously this messed up the workings of my ear, and I have had many doctors tell me it is nothing. I just came back from A&E last night with a 39C fever and delerium, which turned out to be from a poorly treated Middle Ear Infection which I developed in around November - which I was told by the Elms was eustachian tube disorder. For such a simple fix, the fact I am still dealing with this after 3 months is ridiculous and quite frankly appalling. I am currently looking for a new doctor. |

Today my son was extremely poorly with very low oxygen levels. From start to finish the staff where amazing. I didn't have an appointment I walked in with him because he was so poorly and reception staff where fab. The doctor was amazing. The visit resulted in an ambulance being called and staff made sure my son was safe right up until handover.
I have always had positive experiences at this practice but this one was extra-special.
Well done to all the team for working together you should be very proud of yourselves. |

The place is a joke, reception staff are unhelpful and seem unwilling to help, a shame as the doctors are mostly good.
What is the point in not being able to pre book an appointment, instead I have to make one call then explain to a non medical member of staff that I want to have an appointment, I then have to wait to be called back.
I try to get repeat meds but you can only call between certain times, you try to call outside office ours and there is never anyone prepared to take a call,
I will be looking to remove my family asap Reply from The Elms Medical Centre Thu, 26 Sep 2019 12:41:17 +0100 We are really sorry to hear this.
