Since moving to Thornton from Coventry last year I made the mistake of joining this practise. I have been on a reducing dose of Steroids for the last two years which also means taking Calcium to replace what is depleted by the steroids. In Coventry, I saw my doctor every three months to review my progress and give me a prescription for the following three months. Never a problem. When I registered with The Village my notes were sent from Coventry so they had my full history, so it was with great surprise that when I phoned for a prescription all I got was one for nine days and only after a prolonged discussion with the practise manager was it grudgingly increased to one month. I have now finished the steroids but have to take calcium for the next three months. I telephoned on Thu 2nd May and left a message on the prescription answerphone asking for three months tablets. I was soon called back and told in no uncertain way that I could only have one months and that after that I would have to pay. Today Wed 8th, I called in to pick up my prescription but it wasn’t available as a doctor wanted to look at my notes, i was told they would call me when ready. Later the same day I was indeed called and told my prescription was ready, so I went to collect it. Big mistake, no prescription at the chemist, nor with the receptionist not could it be found despite ringing the prescription dept who didn’t answer the phone. The receptionist ( to her credit ) did go and hunt for it and eventually found it. Unfortunately I couldn’t have it as the doctor who raised it hadn’t signed it. I am normally a calm person but understandably was rather upset by this and asked to speak in person to the Practise Manager. She would only speak over the phone as was to busy manning the phones to come and speak to me. She insisted there was a doctor in practise so the receptionist went on the hunt for one but with no success. So I had to leave again with no prescription. I shall be changing to another practise as soon as possible. If you are considering joining this chaotic practise, please go elsewhere. |

It is easy to moan but far less frequent to praise so I have taken a couple of minutes out to leave my general but comprehensive opinion of the Village Practice
I live withand care for my 92 year old father
Over the last five years and longer we have both received the highest quality medical care from Doctors, ANP''s and nursing staff.
To complement this service is a superb administration service. The receptions listen with courtesy and pragmatism responding positively and well to reasonable requests. They promote efficiency by passing intereal messages to medical staff rather than waste an appointment when it isn't appropriate to have one. The medical staff respond in a timely manner but at their convenience with positive outcomes.
I have nothing but praise for this professional establishment |
