As a whole I am happy with Fairfax and this is why.
Availability - this is very good, they tend to always have availability for me and my families needs, including telephone appointments, evening, early and last minute.
Receptionist - generally as a whole they are a good. Some individuals could come across better in terms of general politeness but the others are polite and friendly both face to face and over the phone. I do find it frustrating when you walk to reception and they don’t acknowledge you, I understand if they are in the middle of something but even a “I will be with you in a minute” would be sufficient. Another example is when they tell you their not medically trained - Yes! I do know this, hence me booking appointments with a doctor and not a receptionist!
GP’s - there is one that I will NOT deal with but this has been fine since I advised reception that I do not want to deal with that GP. If you do get this experience, please don’t be put off, just try another GP - in fact I’ve not had a bad experience from any of the others. There’s some that I would prefer to see as they are outstanding. Not only do they do a great job of identifying issues, helping but they also know how to communicate with people. I am truly thankful for the GP’s that have gone the extra mile for me and my family. An example of this is once when I went away at the weekend and I forgot my inhalers. The GP did everything he could to help me. Another GP helped me when I was due to go on holiday but due to a medical reason I couldn’t fly, so they really endeavoured to help.

Despite the fact that I can see how busy they are, they are rising well to the challenges of extra provision. I see one GP and can see him or speak to him on the phone pretty much as I want. That is an improvement on a couple of years ago.. Occasionally I have seen other GPs who appeared to me exhausted, unenthusiastic & unhelpful . An excellent practice but pick your GP carefully and develop a relationship, insist on only seeing them if it's important . Nursing & other non medical staff all excellent. Reception staff helpful and polite. |

Very lucky to have such an efficient and well run service in Prestwich. GP and nursing team provide great care, are empathetic and keep you well informed of treatments and outcomes. |
