The receptionists are rude and fob patients off on most ocasions. If you want a follow up appointment they refuse!!! They always say it's 'emergency only'. Telephone line is always busy - even I once phoned standing outside and no-one was in nor anyone on the phone.
This becomes ridiculous that reception staff turn people down having no medical knowledge. We feel helpless as our GP is extraordinary - if we can eventually go through the reception desk hell...
Cannot fault the nurses or doctors here they are lovely and always helpful. |

I have been a patient at this surgery for many, many years, since it opened in fact with a short break of about 6 years. Doctors and support staff have come and gone but I'm reviewing the current staff as at October 2018.
I find the receptionists to be patient, polite and knowledgeable of their systems and the practice itself. I have never experienced or witnessed anything other than professionalism from the them all, whether face to face or over the phone. Particularly two ladies who both spring to mind in my case. It's helpful to have the lectern check-in technology as an option on arrival as it allows the staff to get on with other things. I also receive sms texts reminding me of my appointments, which is really helpful too.
The nursing team are absolutely outstanding and I wouldn't swap them for the world, two particular ladies are professional, approachable, supportive, informative, discrete and friendly. Each has a reassuring way and I always feel they have time for me during my regular clinic visits.
Since the arrival of both doctors I have seen each of them personally but one of them more often. There have been many GP's I've seen over the years and I must say that in my personal experience this doctor is among the very best. I have great confidence in her judgement and knowledge.
The other doctor saw me on one occasion only but the reason for my visit this month was that he received a copy of a comprehensive medical report following a private health check I'd had. The doctor had taken the time to review the report and identified something he felt worthy of further investigation. I received a letter and attended a clinic with the nurse. It was his eye for detail that impressed me. It's entirely conceivable that my report could have been shelved or skimmed through, but it wasn't.
I sincerely hope the team at the Birches realise that many of us appreciate how they go about their work. There are huge challenges when dealing with poorly patients who may be coming to terms with illness or somebody who is just plain feeling under the weather.
Keep up the great work team. |

The receptionist are so rude and have little time for patients. If you want an appointment do not come to this doctors surgery unless it's an 'emergency' which in my opinion that is what hospitals are for. Telephone line is tedious having to phone up at 8AM for an appointment repeatedly until the line is free. A better telephone service should be offered.
