About a year ago, I attended the surgery complaining of chronic pain. Whilst I got an appointment fairly quickly and the receptionist was polite, the experience of care i received, speaks as to why getting an appointment in the beginning was relatively hassle free. Firstly, the surgery struck me as unhygienic, when i stepped into the doctors office the carpet looked uncleanly and there was no bed, just a sink in the corner. The doctor I had failed to listen to my symptoms properly, and seemed to ignore pieces of information that I gave him. When I suggested the condition that I thought it could be, he sneered and scoffed that it wouldn't be the case in someone of my age (23). Having given me little sympathy, or acknowledgement of my pain - he simply said they would run tests but when i asked for the results, they didn't really explain what they entailed. I was given 2 courses of antibiotics but still not properly explained what they were for. I returned to the surgery 3 times complaining of the same symptoms with no progress, and had to practically beg to be referred to the hospital. i am still experiencing the same symptoms a year later, and honestly feel if I had been taken seriously in the beginning, this could have been avoided. I feel anxious to return to the surgery for any further care, because during my visits it felt as if my complaints were not taken seriously, and that I was rushed out of the office as quickly as possible. The only positive I can say, was that the nurse who ran my tests was lovely and professional. Whilst, I can massively sympathise with the fact that our NHS is under a great deal of strain, and that the majority of health professionals are doing their utmost in really difficult conditions - the bedside manner / approach in this surgery needs to be addressed. |

I went to this surgery's Owens Park campus in my first year of uni multiple times before I left. I firstly want to say that one doctor here was really helpful, good at listening and very patient and understanding. The nurse was the same, and I also found it easy to get quick appointments with the nurse too. However, there was one doctor here who I found I kept getting appointments with who actually was the reason I left the surgery. I usually bring a list of my symptoms/concerns with me into my appointment but when I began reading off this they interrupted harshly with (seemingly irrelevant) questions, which really threw me off. When I asked at the end if I could ask another question they said no as there were other people waiting. I felt like this particular doctor wasn't listening at all, and I was treated in an extremely rude manner. This made me so anxious about seeing the doctor that I had to switch to a new GP as the whole process of seeing the doctor would make me so worried. |

Reception staff are always helpful and friendly. Appointments are not always easy to come by if you want one quickly, unless in an emergency. Two GPs at the surgery, both of which are always thorough. The GP I see really listens to my concerns and will help me understand any treatment plans implemented. |
