I've always really stuck up for this surgery but recently I've found it very difficult to get an appointment. You have to start ringing at 8am on the dot. You ring constantly for 10 to 15 minutes and get an engaged tone. Once you do get through, you kept in a queue. Another 20 minutes later and you get to talk to someone. If you want an appointment that day, then you are usually successful. Recently I rang for an appointment it was a Wednesday and was told they are closed on a Wednesday afternoon and couldn't get a morning appointment. I asked about their advertised 'evening and Saturday' appointments but apparently these are only for certain things and the illness didn't fall into this category. I wanted a nurse appointment for contraception but when a rang to pre-book they didn't have any that I could book and was asked to 'ring back next week'. I do wonder how the elderly or disabled cope with such difficulties in getting to see a GP. I also find it difficult that you have to start ringing at 8am. I should be leaving for work then and so by the time you finally get through on the phone, I am half and hour to an hour late for work. They should have more people on the phone at 8am or allow to pre-book appointments properly.

I’m writing this review about Charnwood Surgery - 5 Burton Road, Derby (Charnwood Surgery Horizon healthcare). Despite there are many recipients at the surgery; however; the service is poor and they are not professional at all. They have failed twice to notify me with text message reminder about my appointment. In my last appointment; the nurse and before I leave has asked me to book an urgent appointment with the pharmacist. The lady at the recipient which was not busy at all, has refused to book me an appointment and said that I have to call tomorrow in order to book an appointment. I have made different attempts to contact the surgery but was not able to reach them. Today; I have received a letter from the surgery saying that I have failed to attend my appointment, and that is a second time within 12 months, and if that happen again then, I’d be released from the practice. I’m planning to make formal complaint before trying to find different Practice.
